Roddy and Javadi named SAA Man and Woman of the Year

Sewanee senior student-athletes Eric Roddy and Emily Javadi have been named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Man and Woman of the Year.

The SAA Man and Woman of the Year awards, presented by Summit Management Corporation, are the highest honors the league bestows. An event will be held at the University of the South campus on June 13 to celebrate the recipients and their families.

Since the league started in 2012-13, the Tigers have won five of the eight SAA Man and Woman of the Year awards.

Crew team continues winning ways

Sewanee’s crew team competed in a demanding 5,000-meter race last weekend against Virginia Tech, Georgia State, the University of Tennessee, UT-Chattanooga, Murray State and Vanderbilt University, and won silver medals in three events.

Tom Campbell named head coach for women’s basketball

After a national search, the Sewanee Department of Athletics has named Tom Campbell as the new women’s basketball coach, Athletic Director Mark Webb announced. “Coach Campbell brings many years of coaching success to Sewanee,” said Webb. “He is an outstanding teacher of basketball as well as an accomplished recruiter to a highly selective, small liberal arts college. I am confident that our women’s basketball program will thrive under his leadership.”
