Students may register to live at the Russian House, which is the home to students who are interested in Russian language and culture. Each year, a different student from Russia lives in and serves as director of the Russian House. All students are encouraged to attend co-curricular and extracurricular events such as the weekly Russian Table (Wednesdays at noon, McClurg Balcony), Russian Tea, Russian film screenings, and other cultural activities such as a springtime Maslenitsa celebration.
The head resident for SY 2019-2020 is Anastasiia Kurganova
In her own words:
I'm Nessie, the new Russian House director. I was born in Saratov, spent my summers in Siberia and got my education at the only Liberal Arts college in my country (Smolny college). I've left my beautiful northern Saint Petersburg to appreciate the vibrant southerness of Tennessee, and I couldn't be happier to be here!
I'm very into art, love birds (obsessively so), adore poetry and probably have the best selection of vintage dresses on campus – Soviet, of course.
You'll know me by impeccable style and abundance of bracelets. Come by the Russian house to say Privet, chitchat, drink tea and partake in fun events that I'm planning for y'all.
It's room 1, Russian House, it's Nessie Kurganova on Facebook and +79112950902 on WhatsApp.
