Refugee Camp Simulation

On February 23rd, 2018, Sewanee and St. Andrew’s Sewanee students of migration, politics, and human rights, faculty, staff, and members of the Catholic Charities of Tennessee from Nashville, BRIDGE from Chattanooga, and Catholic Relief Services participated in the refugee camp simulation “Seeking Refuge, Forced to Flee.”  This simulation, aimed at providing students with a simulated experience of refugees passing through border crossing, registration, health services, school, and the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) was brought to Sewanee by Catholic Charities of Tennessee and sponsored by the Politics Department, the Office of Global Citizenship, the Office of Civic Engagement, and the Center for Teaching as complement to Immigration, Politics, and Identity class.
