Sewanee Alumnus Wins National Teaching Prize

Tracy Rucker (C'94) has won the AATF's (American Association of Teachers of French) Dorothy S. Ludwig Excellence in Teaching Award for Secondary Education.  Tracy Rucker currently teaches at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, KY, and has previously taught at The Darlington School and St. Christopher's School in Richmond, VA.  After graduating from Sewanee in 1994, he completed his graduate studies at Middlebury College.  Mr. Rucker has led student trips to France, studied Quebecois language and culture, grades AP exams for the College Board, organizes multicultural events at his school.  He received the Ludwig Prize at the annual AATF Conference in New Orleans for his use of authentic resources and technology to encourage students to become more aware of world cultures, challenges, and daily life.
