Paris en deuil

Support for victims in Paris

After the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, November 13th, the students and faculty attending Sewanee's Semester in Paris program, as well as other Sewanee students studying in Paris, have all been accounted for and are safe this morning. George Poe, who is in Paris directing the program, alerted students' families as soon as the safety of each student could be confirmed. Poe and program partner Academic Programs Abroad will continue to monitor the situation to determine next steps. As more is known, the campus community will be updated. Please keep George, Sylviane, our students, and their fellow Parisians' in your thoughts. See our students' blog posts from the first fall and Dr. Poe's University post, Study Abroad in Age of Terror concerning the recent terrorist attacks. The accompanying photo is Sewanee's contribution of flowers and a sign to the many makeshift memorials to the victims of the terrorist attacks. It translates: Sewanee: The University of the South in the United States is in mourning with you, the Parisians and the French....Long live France!
