This year's "Fête de l'Encyclopédie" was celebrated, by Professor Poe's FREN 405 (Eighteenth-Century France) class, at the University Archives on Tuesday, October 1, 2013; inasmuch as Sewanee's archives house a complete set of Diderot and D'Alembert's 1781 Lausanne & Berne edition of l'Encyclopédie, the old tomes are quite worth seeing, touching, and examining together as a class.... They are indeed worth a "fête"!
