Academic Success: Tutoring

Certain departments offer formal, structured tutoring programs. If the subject you need is not noted below, please speak with your faculty member about tutoring options.

Chemistry: The Chemistry Department has a tutoring program for general chemistry and organic chemistry. General Chemistry tutors are available Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM in Spencer 264 (the reading room).  Organic Chemistry tutors are available Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM in Spencer 262.  

Chinese: Monday, 7pm-9pm (Shirley); Tuesday, 2pm-4pm (Ludan), 4pm-6pm (Jiwei), 7pm-9pm (Minghui); Wednesday, 2pm-4pm (Ludan); Thursday, 2pm-4pm (Jiwei), 7pm-9pm (Shirley); Friday, 7pm-9pm (Minghui); see also the Language Resource Center

Economics: Microeconomics (Ezechais Nshimiyimana): Monday and Wednesday 6-7pm; Macroeconomics (Mate Szurop): Tuesday and Thursday 6-7 pm. All in Walsh-Ellett 310.

Greek: Hpone Tu is the Classics tutor; his hours are Monday 4 pm to 5 pm and 6pm to 8pm, Thursdays 4-5 pm and 6-8 pm, and Sundays 3-5 pm. He will be on the ground floor of Gailor, either in a classroom or at one of the desks outside.

The Center for Speaking and Listening, located on the main floor of du Pont Library, provides objective peer support to Sewanee students who seek assistance with presentations in any discipline. Tutors are available on Sunday-Thursday between 1:30-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:30 p.m. See the Center for Speaking and Listening for more information, including how to make an appointment.

Writing help for any course: The Writing Center, also located on the main floor of du Pont Library, provides objective peer support to Sewanee students who seek assistance with their writing projects in any discipline. See the Writing Center for more information.
