The Sewanee Writing Center is located on the main floor of DuPont Library, at the end of the Learning Commons reading room closest to the Cap and Gown Café. Upon entering the main doors of the library, turn left and follow the purple sign for the Writing Center, posted on the wall near the entry to the reading room.
The tutors will be sitting in the lounge area near the large windows that overlook Georgia Ave. Upon meeting your tutor, the two of you may choose to sit on the couches and chairs near the windows, at any one of the available tables, or in one of the small consultation rooms if they are unoccupied.
In addition, please feel free to use the writing handbooks and other resources you will find in the bookshelves in the reading room, either during your appointment or whenever you are working on an assignment. In these shelves you will find texts on the writing process, on grammar and citation, on argument, on discipline-specific writing conventions, and much more!
Because we allow walk-in appointments, if you don’t have an appointment when you arrive, please use the available computer to sign-in to the system and register your appointment for the time you arrive. This gives us the opportunity to record how many students visit us and get feedback on your visit. With that said, it is a good idea to make appointments during midterms and finals, as we tend to get busy during these times in the semester.
