Ellen Plummer joined the staff of the Women's Center at Virginia
Tech as its director in November 2000. Ellen teaches for Women's Studies
and assists in coordinating the Women's Leadership Minor. In addition, Ellen
serves as Chair of the University's Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
committee and serves as a resource to university departments on issues associated
with gender and women's concerns. Ellen has experience working on women's
issues in higher education as well as in government and other non-profit
settings. She has done extensive work with survivors of sexual harassment,
sexual assault, and domestic violence and has directed local as well as
statewide efforts aimed at addressing the problem of violence against women.
Most recently, Ellen worked at Duke University in North Carolina where she
directed the Women's Center for six years.
