The Spouses' Psalm

O Lord, you provide for me abundantly,
You have surrounded me with family, friends, and home.
Your thoughts are always for me, your child,
You know my needs better than I and you provide richly.
Your perfect will guides me into your path,
I turn to you for my comfort and strength.
Life in you is more wonderful than I could have alone,
For this gift I sing your praises day and night.
Lord the noise swirls around me,
I can not hear you.
I feel like someone in a fog,
It is hard to clearly see your paths.
So much silence, where have you been?
I don’t expect so much, a word or two.
How great is my sin.
Too many unexpected situations,
Too little of you.
When dreams and hopes become imperfect reality,
I lose and I grieve.
I treat others as enemies,
When I don’t respect their voices.
The water bills are so high,
I thirst for your abundant life giving water.
I live on the edge,
Sometimes the ground feels shaky.
I am afraid I might fall off.
I am a child in need of guidance,
I long for your comfort.
The song of my youth calls to me.
I stumble in my walk with you,
Yet you do not stumble, you will not let me fall.
My anger has not deterred your love for me,
But you have cried with me and drunk my tears.
Your angel’s voice has come to me,
Through the children you have broadened my world.
Through your servants you have counseled me.
You have defined your work for me in the day,
And embraced me in the arms of your
community in the night.
Continue, I pray thee, to make your presence
known in my life,
To give me grace to ride the waves of hope.
So that I may move in and out freely,
Knowing my place in your heart is secure.
I will savor the flavor of you love;
I will be still again and know that you are God;
I will rest in your house.
