Associate Rector for Pastoral Care and Parish Life
St. John's Episcopal Church, Diocese of Florida
Offer a full range of traditional pastoral care to our congregation. Oversee our Stephen Ministry. Lead Thursday morning St. Anne's Bible study. Build on our already strong lay pastoral-care team. Develop a grief ministry. Expand the definition of pastoral care beyond long-term ministry to the elderly and short-term ministry. Enrich and deepen our spiritual lives by developing programs that strengthen us as people who are both spiritual and religious. Improve our connections to new members. Identify, train, and support parish life lay leaders and ministries. Oversee intergenerational parish fellowship events. Participate in the full range of preaching, celebrating, and teaching.
To apply, send an updated OTM portfolio, a resume, and a 500-word biographical statement answering these 3 questions:
1) Describe yourself in the context of "coach." How do you invite, train, empower, encourage and thank volunteers? Share 3 things you've learned from your pastoral care work with lay volunteers. Give specific examples from your life and ministry.
2) Share your "Bucket List." Tell of a place you's like to visit, someone you'd like to meet, and a book you want to have read; what makes a really good day off for you.
3) Your definition of parish life. Suggest ways to make a big church like St. John's feel smaller, help us know each other better, and feel part of the same community.
Applications will be accepted through February 17, 2018, and may be directed to Lindsay@saint-john.org.
