Take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel with Sewanee students, faculty and staff for an educational, cultural, and an unforgettable field trip to five Chinese Provinces. The program is led by Dr. Yasmeen Mohiuddin, professor of economics.

The Locations: Sewanee and China (Beijing, Xi’an, Inner Mongolia, Nanjing, Shanghai)
The Cost: $5,950 per person (for 2 courses)
- Fees include international and domestic airfare, all other travel (train, motorcoach, taxi), accommodations, meals, tour guides/consultants, and entry to all attractions/tourist sites.
The Highlights
- Eight hours course credit for Econ. 345: Economic Development in China and a second course, either in economics or history
- Lectures in China on the Chinese economy, its transition to the market system, and its future challenges
- Access to sites normally off-limits to tourists including the United Nations projects in outlying Chinese villages
- Guided tours of Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, and other cities, and of the UN projects in rural areas
- Four star accommodations (except at the UN project) and all meals are included in tour price
- Special shopping opportunities at the Silk Street and Pearl Market in Beijing as well as in Shanghai
- Opportunities to interact with senior Chinese government officials and academicians along with local artisans, farmers, shopkeepers, and residents
- Senior government officials will accompany the group and serve as interpreters and consultants.
