Each year the Sewanee Student Assembly recognizes outstanding student leaders, organization advisors, and the fantastic organizations that add life and energy to the campus atmosphere. The following is a description of each award with a list of past winners.
On the next page, you may submit your nominations for the 2010-2011 awards which will be given out at an awards banquet in the spring of 2011. Nominations are due by Thursday, April 9, 2011 (date subject to change).
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Outstanding Leadership Award
This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, service, and integrity as a member of the Sewanee community.
Volunteer of the Year Award
This award recognizes a student who has made a significant impact on student life and the campus community through his/her dedication and contribution to serving and helping others.
Outstanding Behind the Scenes Contributor
This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated outstanding campus leadership that has a significant impact on student life, although this student's leadership contribution was known only to a few on campus.
Initiative Award
This award recognizes a student who has shown outstanding leadership contribution be initiating a program, activity, or organization that had a significant impact on student life.
Community Builder Award
This award recognizes personal action through a program or activity designed to promote community development or the healing of a rift within a community.
James Philip Cole Award
This award recognizes a dedicated freshman athlete who demonstrates admirable leadership qualities both on and off the field.
Environmental Leadership Award
This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in relation to environmental concerns. Consideration: recipient does not have to be an environmental studies or natural resources major.
Sewanee Spirit Award
This award recognizes a student who has shown a continued commitment to promoting the university.
Advisor of the Year Award
This award recognizes a faculty or staff member who has gone above and beyond their regular responsibilities to advise a student group and support them in their endeavors.
