Johnson Hall, built in 1926, is one of the oldest residence halls on campus. Located on University Avenue directly across from Manigault Park and St. Luke's Hall, Johnson is conveniently located with easy access to all parts of campus. Standing three stories tall, Johnson is a women's residence hall housing approximately 56 upper-class and first-year residents.

The rooms in Johnson are mostly doubles and the windows are of various sizes. All rooms are carpeted and windows are furnished with blinds. Each floor has a common shower room with three basins, three showers, and three toilet stalls. There are shelves in each bathroom where residents may store their toiletries.

Room Furnishings (based on a double occupancy room):

  • Two Twin beds with approximately 6 inches of storage space under each bed
  • Two desks with chairs
  • Two wall-mounted bookshelves with two shelves each
  • Two dressers with three drawers each
  • Two built-in closets with a rod for hanging clothes and a shelf above for added storage
  • Full length mirror on the back of each closet door
  • Two waste baskets
  • One room phone and two Ethernet ports

Each room has only one light fixture, so small desk lamps or pedestal lamps are suggested.


There is a common kitchen with a stove top, oven, full sized refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster, and several cooking supplies for residents to use. The common room also contains cable TV and a VCR/DVD player. Located in the basement is a laundry room with three washing machines, two dryers, drying racks, an iron, an ironing board, and vending machines. Johnson also has a gas grill and several picnic tables and benches for cook-outs.
