During the 10 day trip, participants will learn from activists, artists, spiritual leaders, and government officials who gave voice to the struggle through sacrament, sacrifice, protest, visual art, drama and music. Field trips will include Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned), the Community Arts Project, the Desmond Tutu Peace Center, devastated cities that were created by the Apartheid government, and community development efforts aimed at bringing justice to the poor and renewal to the depleted earth.
An application is available in the Outreach Office. Registrations will close February 15th. Last summer a Sewanee student was involved in this project and would be more than happy to relate his experience. For more information, contact Dixon Myers at dmyers@sewanee.edu or 931-598-1156.
