Awards

The Clarence Day Community Service Award for community service is awarded to a senior who has had extensive involvement in and shown an immeasurable commitment to community service. 2008 Award Winners - Samantha Kennedy and Doran Bostwick

The student(s) chosen for this award should be a senior who has done outstanding work in community service in either the University system or the community or both.  Community service should be interpreted as an activity that has solved a problem, improved the quality of community life, or contributed to this region.  The award committee will consider students who have made a significant contribution in a single area as well as those who have participated in several areas of community service. 

The Environmental Service Award is presented each year to one or two students that have advanced the University's environmental programs throughout their career at Sewanee.

Past winners have led the environmental resident's program, developed a environmental policy for the University, initiated a green building design, and led our recycling program. The award is sponsored by Sewanee's Environmental Studies Program.  2006 Award Winner - Mary Bruce Gray
