Mountaineering on the Continental Divide
Students spend two weeks of their winter break, driving to Colorado, acclimating to high elevation, and traversing the Continental Divide in the San Juan Mtns. of Colorado.
After three days acclimating at 9,000 ft. we camped the next three nights in our tents at elevations of 11,000 ft. , 12,000 ft. and 13,000 ft., respectively. The last three nights of our trip we stayed in yurts on the Hinsdale Haute Route.
