For Authors

We wish to obtain first serial rights to your contribution published in the Sewanee Review, as well as nonexclusive world rights in English print and electronic formats. Though the copyright will always be in your name, we would prefer the nonexclusive right to handle reprint permissions on your behalf. As your publisher we are in a better position to determine if fees are warranted, to make sure the works are properly credited, and to determine if a particular use endangers future sales of your work.

For Publishers

Thank you for your interest in reprinting material from the Sewanee Review. You've come to the right place for some of the best writing of the late twentieth and early twenty-first century, and the most renowned authors: Fred Chappell, Harry Crews, Shelby Foote, Caroline Gordon, Anne Sexton, Howard Nemerov, Thomas Merton, Randall Jarrell, Wallace Stevens, William Trevor, Robert Penn Warren, Sylvia Plath, and many many more! To begin the process we need as much information on this permissions form as you can provide. You may either submit this form online, or print it out and mail the form (or your equivalent) to:

Once we receive this information and get approval from the author (or make every attempt to do so) we will send you a permissions contract stipulating the terms of use and a modest reprint fee. Please understand no permission is granted until you have received this contract from the Sewanee Review.
