New! George Watson publishes true tales of heresies

George Watson's new book, Heretics and Heresies, identifies the heretical qualities in figures and ideas throughout the twentieth century, ranging from Moses Finley, whom Watson wrote about in our winter 2004 issue, to the science fiction writer Douglas Adams, whom Watson knew as an undergraduate. John Carey says of the book, "It is vintage George Watson, challenging, intransigent, witty, drawing on an immensely wide range of reading and taking treasured assumptions apart with breezy charm." Head over to Lutterworth Press to check out the full description and look at the table of contents, which contains tantalizing chapter titles like "Americanophilia," "Shooting a President," and "Thoughts on a Dead Elephant." Although the book is published in the UK, you can grab a copy through Barnes & Noble.
