We are happy to announce that Jacob White, winner of the Andrew Lytle Prize and author of the story “Night Miles” in our summer 2009 issue, has won first place in a contest hosted by Leapfrog Press for his collection Being Dead in South Carolina. White’s collection rose to the top of nearly five hundred manuscripts. The finalist judge, Lev Raphael, said of the book, “fresh, fierce, sad, funny, deep. The author is a natural storyteller, with a voice that is like music. . . . This book sings. It’s real, it’s beautiful." Keep your ears tuned for Being Dead in South Carolina, which will be published by Leapfrog Press in fall 2013.
