We're happy to announce that R. T. Smith has a new book, Sherburne: Stories, published through Stephen F. Austin Press. Through a set of linked stories, some of which appeared in New Stories from the South and Best American Mystery Stories, Smith chronicles a family's generational struggles from the Civil War to the present. Fellow SR contributor Ron Rash approves of Smith's new work, saying that "this intricate and exquisitely written collection further confirms that R. T. Smith is one of America's best writers. Sherburne is a magnificent achievement." Given that praise and that one story in Sherburne received the National Magazine Award in Fiction, it seems fair to say that we are pretty excited for Mr. Smith and his work.
