Wesley Bailey is a sophomore from Riverview, Florida. He is pursuing majors in Computer Science and Russian. He is also the Russian tutor at Sewanee. As the second-oldest in a family of nine, and an assistant instructor at Dol-go-rae Taekwondo in Orlando, Florida, he has experience and a passion for teaching. Puja Basnet was born in Kathmandu, Nepal and came to the United States at the age of 4. She is an International and Global Studies major and a Women’s and Gender Studies minor. On top of being a Posse scholar and a Canale intern, she is president of the Sewanee Asian Organization because of her passion for understanding different cultures and perspectives. She is also a member of the Bairnwick Women’s Center and works to promote gender equality and intentional intersectionality. Her favorite quotation  is by Malala Yousafzai: “We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.”

Bella Bombassi is a junior majoring in politics from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Bella plays on the Sewanee basketball team and is also involved in Greek life. Caleb Borders is a junior from Montgomery, Alabama. He is an Economics major with a minor in Mathematics. Tristan Carico is a Psychology major with a minor in German. He is a senior who recently moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tristan enjoys reading the letters of Seneca the Younger, a roman philosopher, statesman, and rhetorician. When not working with students in the CS&L, Tristan performs with the Sewanee Jazz Band, tutors high school students for the ACT, and watches old episodes of “The Office.”

Luke Gair has lived in Charleston, South Carolina for all nineteen years of his life. He reads as much as he can, even if it’s while brushing his teeth or walking to class. He is pleased to be majoring in English in the midst of the mountains at Sewanee. Outside the classroom, he is the features editor for the Sewanee Purple, a member of the Student Conduct Board, and a Proctor. As an avid consumer of literature, he hopes to publish his own collection of books one day.

She is also an Arcadian ambassador, a co-director for Adelante, and a mentor for Epic Girl, a mentorship program that works to empower young women. Anna is a fan of Eric Thomas, an American motivational speaker and minister. Her favorite Thomas quotation is, "When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you'll be successful." Anna believes that learning to speak well is essential because it can motivate change and influence informed decisions.

Debreiona Harris is a junior from Huntsville, Alabama and is majoring in Biology through the integrated track. In her free time, she is co-captain of the Sewanee Steppers. This quotation serves as reminder that you have to at least try to be brave enough to take chances. As a part-time pharmacy technician and full-time backseat driver, she began to study rhetoric after listening to David Foster Wallace’s “This is Water” commencement address to the Kenyon College class of 2005. In that address Wallace states, “And I submit that this is what the real, no-bull value of your liberal-arts education is supposed to be about: How to keep from going through your comfortable, prosperous, respectable adult life dead, unconscious, a slave to your head and to your natural default-setting of being uniquely, completely, imperially alone, day in and day out.”

Ivana Porashka is a junior from Bulgaria, and lives in Nashville, Tennessee. She serves as a member of SGA, rows on the crew team, writes for the Sewanee Purple, and sings in Cambiata, a student-run acapella group. When not in duPont Library, you can find Ivana doing yoga in the yard of the French house.
