Johnson Hall
Johnson Hall,
erected in 1926, is one of the oldest dormitories on campus. Set
on University Avenue directly across from St. Lukes Hall, Johnson
is conveniently located with easy access to all parts of campus.
It is three stories high and has a large convenient common room,
and in the basement a laundry room, a large locked storage room,
and a locked bicycle room.

The rooms are
mostly doubles and the casement windows are of various sizes, all
with Venetian blinds. The rooms are furnished with beds, two-drawer
chests, two-shelf bookcases, desks and chairs. The floor area of
the closet is approximately three feet square.
Each floor has
a common shower room with three basins, three showers, and three
toilet stalls. There are shelves in the bathroom where residents
may keep their toiletries. Each room has only one overhead light,
so small desk lamps or pedestal lamps are suggested. There is little
storage space, so plastic stacks of bins or shelves would be helpful.
Small rugs and wall hangings brighten a room, and some of the rooms
have space for a small easy chair or love-seat type sofa. Students
often buy these at used furniture shops locally after arrival on
campus.
There is a common
kitchen and students might like to bring a few dishes and perhaps
a saucepan for cooking snacks. The commons room also contains a
large TV, VCR, and a microwave. The dormitory also has a gas grill
and picnic table and benches for cook-outs as well as a few lawn
chairs and chaises.
