Airports and Air Travel
The organizing committee recommends that you plan on flying into either Los Angeles International [LAX] or Ontario International (ONT) airports.
Ontario airport is the closest to Lake Arrowhead at some 50 miles/ 80 kilometers away.
While Ontario is primarily a regional hub airport, it does receive international flights and it is generally possible to book a flight from LAX to Ontario for only a modest fee added to your basic ticket. Flights to Ontario may also be conveniently booked from other national hub airports such as Dallas, Denver, or Chicago.

The distance between LAX and Ontario is about 60 miles/ 100 kilometers. Other than the LAX – Ontario flights, connecting between airports by public transportation is very difficult.

Airfare to and from the US is generally less expensive with a Saturday night stay. However it should be noted that rooms will NOT be available at the UCLA Conference Center before May 31 or on the evening of June 3. Alternate accommodations near the airports are listed at http://www.lawa.org/lax/laxframe.html (LAX) and http://www.lawa.org/ont/welcomeONT.cfm (ONT)

Ground Transportation
The organizing commitee will provide a charter a bus on the following schedule:

Tuesday, May 31:
1:00 pm- Depart Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
2:30 pm - Pick up at Ontario International Airport (ONT)
4:00 pm - Arrive at UCLA Conference Center
Friday, June 3:
1:00 pm - Depart UCLA Conference Center
3:00 pm - Drop off at Ontario International Airport (ONT)
5:00 pm - Arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Please note that the chartered bus will just make one trip from and to the airports, stopping only at the locations indicated above. The times listed are approximate and may be adjusted slightly based on participant schedules and traffic. The pick-up and drop-off points will be posted (and sent by email) in May, once we have reviewed participants’ travel plans.

When making your travel plans it LAX and Ontario have numerous hotels nearby should it be necessary to early or depart after June 3rd (see above for links to hotel information or try any of the commercial sites such as Orbitz or Travelocity).

Commercial 7 passenger shuttle vans, such as SuperShuttle, service both airports. The service will cost approximately $60 per person. Alternatively, taxis to the UCLA Conference Center in Lake Arrowhead from the Los Angeles International Airport will cost over $100 and from the Ontario International Airport will cost approximately $75.

Those planning to rent a car should be aware of the driving time from LAX to Lake Arrowhead of about 2.5 to 3 hours. From Ontario the driving time is about an hour shorter. Detailed driving directions from Los Angeles or the Ontario Airport are provided here.
