COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In our everyday life we are surrounded by objects and technologies that we barely understand. Would you like to explore how a CD player works? How would you design and build "the perfect bike"? What is the "magic" behind cell phones? How do we know what distant stars are made off? Are Segways really the next way of transportation? Are you going to pump gasoline or hydrogen in your 2010 car's fuel tank? We are proposing to tackle these and other areas of current interest with a hands-on approach based on teamwork, lots of discussions, critical thinking and cooperative learning. We will also visit companies and labs where new technologies are being developed, and have fun in the process! Completion of this new course fulfills one (non-lab) science requirement.
