Where can I stay if I come for a visit?
There are several motels “on top of the Mountain” to stay. The Sewanee Inn and other guest rooms 931.598.1686 are on campus. Red Oak Hollow 931-598-9871, http://redoakhollow.blogspot.com has guest suites and cottages available. The deRosset House (Bed & Breakfast) 931.598.0274, Three Oaks (Guest House) 931.598-0432, www.threeoaks.biz or the beautifully located but sparse (it was a convent) St. Mary’s Sewanee 931.598.5342 or 1.800.728.1659 are located in or near Sewanee.  Also The Adams Edgeworth Inn 931.924.4000 or 187.RELAX.INN is in the Monteagle Assembly. The following motels, which are also on the Cumberland Plateau, are listed in order of their proximity to campus. All are located in Monteagle, only six miles away:

    If you are planning on staying more than one or two nights, or if you have a large group, you might consider renting a house in the Monteagle Assembly. The number for the Housing Cooridinator is 931.924.9000, or you can try sending an email to mssadh@blomand.net . Parents attempting to do this for the first time should not be discouraged. Accommodations in the Assembly are very popular, and some parents of upperclassmen may have planned well in advance to reserve a place for such popular times as Family Weekend or Commencement. The WildHeart Lodge (Guest Rooms & Lodge) is located on the plateau but a few miles out 423.837.5730.

    Should you decide to go “down the Mountain,” the county seat, Winchester, has several motels, including the Jameson Inn 931.962.0130 and the Best Western Inn 931.967.9444. Another “down the Mountain” option would be the Franklin-Pearson House 931.962.3233, a 9-room bed and breakfast in Cowan. There is also the Antebellum Inn which is a five guest room bed and breakfast. 931-967-5550. 

    On particularly busy weekends, including Family Weekend, Alumni Homecoming, and Commencement, it may be necessary to seek accommodations in more distant towns and cities, such as Tullahoma, Manchester, South Pittsburg, or even Chattanooga.

    If you are more of the outdoors type and do not mind driving 25 miles, Tims Ford State Park 931.962.2706 is a very nice place to stay with comfortable, modern cabins set in beautiful natural surroundings. Tims Ford is located outside of Winchester.
