About the site

The wesite was produced under the supervision of the Office of the Dean of the College. The Dean and Associate Dean are grateful to the members of the Parents’ Council for their recommendations and to reviewers and contributors.  Cindy Church, Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the College; and Larry Jones, Associate Dean of the College organized the content.

The idea for this came from the Parents’ Council, which was organized during the 1984-85 academic year. The form and content owe a great deal to the suggestions and recommendations of those members of the Parents’ Council who during the 1980’s and 1990’s reviewed the information and recommended improvements. Those who have worked on the website have tried to pose the questions most parents are likely to ask.

The answers have come from a variety of sources, including most of the administrative officers of the University. No attempt has been made to provide complete information. Moreover, these questions and answers are not official statements of policy. They are intended to be helpful, brief, candid descriptions of matters parents usually want to know about in order to understand their son’s or daughter’s experiences at Sewanee.
