Sewanee will host the "T-CLoUD: Teaching Climate Literacy Using Data” workshop, Sept. 25-27, 2015. Participating faculty represent seven Associated Colleges of the South (ACS) schools (Birmingham-Southern College, Centenary College, Centre College, Furman University, Morehouse College, Rhodes College, the University of the South, and Washington and Lee University) and a variety of disciplines. Climate expert Dr. David Stooksbury (University of Georgia) will present the opening plenary lecture.

This workshop will serve as an opportunity for ACS faculty to discuss the inclusion of climate in the general science curriculum as well as in courses and programs focused on the environment and sustainability. Participants will identify important climate science topics (discipline-specific and interdisciplinary), learn about environmental monitoring and available online datasets (with a focus on the southeastern US), and design blended learning modules for use in new or existing courses. In addition to developing resources related to teaching climate literacy across disciplines, this workshop will explore the possibility of establishing a cross-campus climate monitoring network.

The T-CLoUD project is a collaboration between Sewanee Assistant Professors Emily White (Chemistry) and Kristen Cecala (Biology) and Furman University Professor Gregory Lewis (Biology). This workshop is funded by an Associated Colleges of the South Blended Learning Program grant.
