Dr. Lisa Burner's article on Gorriti and Incan treasure is out in the Summer, 2018 edition of the "Hispanic Review" entitled "Tales of incan gold in an era of guano:Juana manuela gorriti's precious metal melodramas." The Spanish Department is also very proud to announce the birth of Lisa and Justin Burner's baby son, Ellis, this summer.

The Most Reverend Mark Strange is the Bishop of Moray, Ross, and Caithness and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church. He will receive an honorary degree during the University's Founders' Day Convocation on Oct. 12.
Dr. Richard Apgar presented a paper at the European Society for Periodical Research (ESPRit) in Paris at the Sorbonne this summer (June 27-29). His paper was titled, "German Enlightenment Periodicals within Transnational Print Culture." Travel to the conference was supported by the Barclay Ward Research Fund.
The University will revive an old tradition and celebrate Foundation Day this month to observe the 150th anniversary of the matriculation of its first nine students. The more familiar Founders’ Day celebration will include a Convocation at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.
