Visit by Richard Rohr 2006
Father Richard Rohr, OFM, a Franciscan (R. Catholic) of the New Mexico Province, is an internationally known retreat master, speaker, and writer. He is the founder and director of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, NM and has written numerous books, including Everything Belongs: The Gift of Contemplative Prayer , Simplicity: the Freedom of Letting Go , and Adam's Return: The Five Promises of Male Initiation .
Father Rohr will be joining us from January 31st through February 2nd to discuss, for the benefit of the Sewanee community and other visitors, the integration of contemplation and action and the spiritual journey of males.
On Tuesday, January 31st, at 7:30 pm in Convocation Hall at the University of the South, Father Rohr will be giving his first talk, entitled The Integration of Action and Contemplation. On Wednesday, February 1st, at 5:30pm in Hargrove Auditorium at the School of Theology, Father Rohr will be speaking with School of Theology Faculty and Seminarians about Working the Active & Contemplative Life: Issues for Congregational Leadership and, finally, on Thursday, February 2nd at 4:30 pm in Convocation Hall at the University of the South, he will be delivering his last lecture, entitled The Spiritual Journey of Males: Healing and Hope for Men and Women. All talks are open to the general public.
