The International and Global Studies program at Sewanee offers one of the most comprehensive and flexible undergraduate international studies majors at any liberal arts college. The program currently features eight different tracks, drawing on substantially more than 100 courses offered from thirteen departments throughout the college by some three dozen faculty members.
The program is divided into two broad divisions: 1) area study tracks that allow majors to focus on a multidisciplinary study of a particular region, but within the context of its broader global context; and 2) global studies tracks that lead students to examine the world as an interconnected economic, political, and cultural system -- although individual students may still also focus on a particular region.
This coursework, along with required study abroad, well prepares majors to participate through their careers and lives in our increasingly interdependent world. Sewanee also provides numerous funding opportunities allowing students to undertake summer research or internships to connect even further coursework with experience abroad as well as to help clarify career and postgraduate education plans.
