Accommodations for the Sewanee Congress

Accommodations on the campus of Sewanee: The University of the South

Policies common to all University rooms:
  • All reservations and payments will be done through the Site host. Please fill out the separate Housing Form. Housing assignments will be made, and then you will be asked for payment. There are no taxes on University rooms. Upon request, refunds will be made until May 25, 2007.
  • Check-in time: 2:00 PM
  • Check-out time: 11:00 AM
  • Alcoholic beverages are allowed in the rooms. They are not permitted in commons areas. Open containers are not permitted on the campus except at official functions.
  • All rooms have telephones with voice mail.
  • All rooms are air conditioned.
  • Smoking is not permitted; pets are not permitted.
  • Parking is available at each facility. Walking to Congress events is expected. For the banquet, walking, driving, or riding in University vans will be options.
  • For everyone staying in a room on the campus, a meal ticket for three meals a day is required: $21/day/person ($10.50 for children 9 and under)

Dormitory Rooms in Tuckaway Hall or Elliott Hall. Central Campus.

  • Sheets, pillows, and towels provided. Towels may be changed daily.
  • Internet access via Ethernet data connectivity is available. Wireless Internet access is available in Elliott.
  • In general, bathrooms are on the halls and shared. Some rooms have private baths; some share bathrooms with other rooms in a suite.
  • Double rooms: $30/person/night
  • Single rooms: $40/person/night
  • Washers and dryers are available at prevailing cost.

University Guest Rooms

A continental breakfast is available at each facility, in addition to the full breakfast at McClurg Dining Hall that is part of the meal plan.

The Sewanee Inn: traditional motel rooms located near a golf course (5 minute walk to central campus)
  • TV with cable channels.
  • Wireless internet access is available in the Inn rooms.
  • 3 rooms have one queen bed: $77/night/room, single or double
  • 7 rooms have two double beds, recently renovated: $77/night/room, single or double
  • 2 deluxe rooms have queen bed and sleeper sofa, refrigerator, microwave, and one of these two rooms is handicap accessible: $90/night/room, single or double or triple.
  • 1 suite with queen bed in bedroom, sleeper sofa in a separate living room, full kitchen with washer and dryer, and TVs in both rooms: $121/night/room, single or double or triple.
Rebel’s Rest: a historic campus log home built in 1866. Central Campus at THE stoplight.
  • Private bathrooms.
  • Wireless internet access.
  • Some rooms have TV.
  • One queen bed or two twin beds.
  • Each room is $77/night/room, single or double.

Individual meals may be purchased at the Dining Hall at the ‘street rate’.

American Eagle Inn (a new motel in Monteagle), 5 miles, 6 minutes from Sewanee
  • $69.95/night plus tax for double queen rooms.

The Franklin-Pearson House: Historic Bed and Breakfast Inn in Cowan, 6 miles down the mountain, 10-12 minutes from Sewanee.
