Latin 104, Advent Semester 2008
Schedule of Classes

Class meets on MWF at 11:00 AM and on Tuesday at 12:30 PM (*added as a reminder).
Practice and vocabulary exercises on line.
General Instructions: This course assumes that you have studied first year Latin before and assumes that you will work diligently to recover the Latin that has slipped from memory. The first part of the course moves very quickly and will require time and effort as we speedily review vocabulary and grammar. When you are asked to "look carefully" at grammar or exercises, you should read this material and try some of the exercises until you are confident that you understand the content. You should ask about anything you do not understand in the next class session. All "exercises" that are specifically identified as homework are to be written neatly and will usually be submitted for grading. The assignments are given below but are subject to change. We shall engage in an ongoing discussion about the appropriateness of assignments and can make changes wherever and whenever necessary. "Reading" assignments and "practice sentences" are to be prepared for class but are not written assignments.

Grade Evaluation

Your 104 course is divided into five segments, the last four ending with an examination. You will receive a grade for each of these segments. The grade for "segment one" will be determined by your homework grades (1/5), plus the three examinations over chapters 1-16 (4/5). The remaining three"segment grades" will be determined by your daily grades (homework and quizzes)(1/3) plus the examination over that segment (2/3). Your final grade will be determined by averaging your five segment grades. The Final Examination will serve as the Examination ending segment five.
