Format:
The examination will consist of passages from 63 and 64. There will be two passages from 63 and two from 64. You will be asked to select one poem. If you plan to write a your research paper on one of these poems, you will be asked to select the other poem for this exam.

For the selected poem you will:
1) Translate one passage.
2) Write an essay utilizing BOTH passages. The discussion will ask you to deal with context, thematic significance, and poetic merit. You will also be asked to comment on what Catullus is trying to accomplish--his thematic/poetic intent-- for the poem.

You are responsible for all of c. 63 and the following lines from c. 64:
19-51; 53-70; 143-170; 192-201; 215-245.
