For reflected light the power and intensity are controlled by one knob. Turn up the lamp intensity only as far as necessary to obtain good lighting. As with transmitted light, when the microscope will not be in use for several minutes at a time, turn the intensity down to preserve the lamp.
The reflected light lamp is housed in the attachment at the rear of the microscope. There are slots for filters such as polarizing filters in the adapter connecting the lamp housing to the microscope.
