Color quickly permits the elimination of a large percentage of possible particle identifications. This is especially true for pigments. There are some caveats to remember. Very fine particles of azurite and of many yellow pigments may appear colorless since little light is being absorbed. Note the pale blue appearance of the azurite particle in the square. Smaller thinner particles could easily be confused with the colorless quartz particles.
