Volunteer On Campus
  • Assist with Beyond the Gates: Preparing for Life and Work after Sewanee
  • Speak on campus
  • Attend Student-Alumni Networking luncheons
  • Secure a paid internship for a Sewanee student
  • Secure an unpaid internship (students can compete for University funding)
  • Provide funds for student internships
   
Recruit Sewanee Students
  • Reading about your career path will provide valuable information to students
  • Post a job on the Sewanee Gateway
  • Ensure that Sewanee students are recruited by your organization
  • Forward resumes to the appropriate person in your organization
   
Volunteer in your Area
  • Become a "mentor" on the Alumni Gateway and speak with students interested in your career
  • Networking Excursions
     
    Host a Student
    Conduct an informational interview with a student
    Provide networking assistance to students
  • Provide housing when a student interviews in your city
  • Provide housing when a student has a summer internship in your city (house-sitting, garage apartment, etc.)

Resume Review
Telephone Appointment
  • You are welcome to submit your resume to the Career Services staff for review and suggestions. Please specify the date by which you need to have your resume reviewed. Send via fax to 931-598-1166 or by E-mail to careers@sewanee.edu.
  • For assistance with questions about your career or graduate or professional school, please call the Office of Career Services (888-466-5869 or 931-598-1121) to make an individual telephone appointment with a staff member. Prior to scheduling an individual appointment, you are welcome to fax or email careers@sewanee.edu resumes or cover letters for the staff to review and edit.
The Career Library

Alumni visiting Sewanee are welcome to visit the Office of Career Services and use its resources. The Career Services library holdings include over 300 titles, most of which may be checked out for one week. Books describing different career fields cover more than 200 different kinds of jobs. These books can help you begin to determine the careers you might be interested in pursuing and find more information about a particular career. The holdings also include:

  • Internship books that list and describe hundreds of specific opportunities
  • Job bank books and directories of employers and business associations
  • Books about resume writing, interviewing and the other basics of conducting a job search
  • Books to assist with all aspects of applying to graduate school, from preparing for graduate school admissions tests and selecting graduate schools to writing your personal statement and obtaining financial aid. The duPont Library collection includes other career-related titles, which library cardholders may utilize at duPont or check out to read elsewhere.
