ACE Application Process

ACE (A Career Exploration) internships are sponsored by Sewanee alumni, parents, and friends. For some of these internships, spots are created or held open for Sewanee applicants. For many, Sewanee alumni and parents will help ensure that your application is considered seriously. Please correspond with these internship sponsors in a professional, courteous manner that will make Sewanee alumni and parents proud of their association with you and Sewanee!

1.      Identify Internships of Interest
The internship list and descriptions are available on TigerNet.

2.      Create Your Application
      Applications consist of:
      • A resume
      • A cover letter, addressed to the internship contact person
      • A list of two references (include address and phone number; be sure to ask permission before listing someone as a reference)
      • In some cases, a writing sample, transcript, or application form. This varies by internship.

3.     Submit Your Application
Upload all application materials to TigerNet. We cannot accept applications that are submitted after midnight of the deadline. It is important that you submit your application to Career Services via TigerNet rather than directly to the internship sponsor so that we can lobby on your behalf with the internship sponsors and keep track of the applications.

4.      If Your Internship Is Unpaid, Pursue Funding
Sewanee students are very fortunate to have the opportunity to receive funding for unpaid internships thanks to the generosity of many donors. Please be aware of deadlines for funding consideration, and indicate in your cover letter to the internship sponsor that you are applying for this funding and will need a letter of confirmation before the final application deadline. Please see an internship coordinator to determine which funding opportunity might best fit your internship.

Career Services staff members are available to help with any aspect of the application process by appointment (x1121 or careers@sewanee.edu) or during drop in hours on Wednesday afternoons from 2-5 and Thursday mornings from 10-12.
