Men's Soccer:

Sewanee Downs SCAC Rival Rhodes 2-1

(Memphis, TN) --   Sewanee, #5 in the South-Central Region, defeated host Rhodes, #6 in the South-Central Region by a score of 2-1. Prior to the match, both teams were aware the result would have conference, regional and national implications. The visiting Tigers jumped to a quick lead on a 25 yard strike from Freshman midfielder Jake Cail in the 2nd minute. Rhodes equalized in the 18th minute on a penalty by Mike Phillips. While Rhodes had the better of the play in the first half, Sewanee controlled the tempo in the second period. The visiting Tigers got the game winner when a David Allen shot was deflected by a Rhodes defender, and dipped over Rhodes keeper Adam Guzzo in the 80th minute.
