Paul Roper, Player of the Week

(Sewanee, TN.) --   Sewanee senior goalkeeper Paul Roper (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) is the Southern Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Player of the Week as he registered two shutouts and six saves last week against No. 27 DePauw (1-0) and Rose-Hulman (3-0).

With the two wins, Sewanee (15-2-0, 8-1-0) clinched at least a tie for the SCAC championship and also earned an automatic bid, the school’s first, to the NCAA Div. III National Tournament which begins Nov. 7.

ROPER STATS: On the season, Roper has seven consecutive shutouts, nine overall and 23 for a career. His goals against average on the season is 0.86 and he has not allowed a goal in 253 minutes. As a junior, Roper was a 1st team All-SCAC and 2nd team All-South selection.

NCAA TOURNEY ANNOUNCEMENT: Sunday Nov. 4 at 9 p.m. CST, the NCAA will announced the NCAA Div. III, 44-team field with dates and pairings of first, second and third round matches.

NCAA DATES: The six, first round matches will be played on Nov. 7 with regional semis and finals to be played, Nov. 9-11. NCAA quarterfinals are Nov. 16-18 with the Final Four, Nov. 22-25.
