Sewanee Defeats Oglethorpe
(Sewanee, TN) -- Sewanee scored a season-high six goals in a half, including a hat trick by David Allen plus an assist as the Tigers defeated Oglethorpe here Friday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mens college soccer match.
Oglethorpe took a 1-0 lead on a Eric Pinho penalty kick in the 53rd minute before Sewanee scored six goals in 22 minutes.
Former Baylor School player Andrew North had four assists, while Ryan Davis had two goals and Andy Leffler had one. North has 10 assists for the season and is now second on Sewanees career assist list with 36. Clayton Hayden (1993-96) had 44 career assists.
Allen tied the match off a pass from Chris Wooster in the 60th minute and scored the final goal in the 82nd minute.
Sewanees previous high of goals scored in a half was five, in a 6-1 win against Carthage College in the season opener.
Sewanee goalkeeper Paul Roper had three saves as the Tigers improve to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC. Oglethorpe is 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the SCAC. Sewanee hosts Millsaps Sunday at 2 p.m. CDT. Sewanee is 5-1 at home this season and 14-2 the past two seasons.
