Men's Soccer:

Sewanee Blanks Centre, 1-0

(Danville, KY) --   Senior Ryan Davis scored a goal on a breakaway 50 seconds into the second half to give Sewanee a 1-0 win against Centre College here Saturday in men's soccer.

Sewanee goalkeeper Paul Roper had three saves in posting his fourth shutout of the season and 17th in his career.

Sewanee, winners of six straight matches, improves to 10-2 overall and remains in first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference at 6-1.

FIRST WIN AT CENTRE FOR KERN: For Sewanee coach Matt Kern, this is his first win at Centre (6-4-2, 2-4-1) in his 12- year career on the Mountain.

Prior to today's win, the last time Sewanee defeated Centre was a 5-1 overtime win in 1989 under coach Todd White, the year before Kern arrived at Sewanee.

Sewanee is in first place in the SCAC with two conference matches remaining on the schedule. The Tigers travel to DePauw on Oct. 26 and at Rose-Hulman on Oct. 28.
