Eric Reed

Eric Reed is Principal Cellist of the CSO Orchestra and Cellist of the CSO String Quartet.  A native of Atlanta, Mr. Reed began performing with the CSO Orchestra in 1976 and has been Principal Cellist since 1987.  

He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston and his Master of Music degree from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with additional study at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. 

Mr. Reed has performed with the Texas Opera Theatre, Texas Chamber Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Savannah Symphony Orchestra, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Worcester (MA) Orchestra as well as the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra from 1998 to 1993 (PrincipalCellist).  He was one of twelve cellists worldwide selected for the Piatigorsky Seminar in 1985.  He has also participated in master classes with Lynn Harrell, Stephen Kates, Raya Garbusova, Leonard Rose, Zara Nelsova, Laurence Lesser, David Wells, and Aldo Parisot.  His principal teachers were Hans Jansen, Csaba Oncay, David Tomatz, Martha Gershefski, James Stroud, and Ronald Feldman. Currently teaching at The University of the South and the Cadek Conservatory.  Mr. Reed lives in Trenton, GA.
