Deciding to go

Should you study abroad?

Many exceptional opportunities come under study abroad.

Do go if:

  • You have an academic objective in mind for study abroad.
  • Your major will allow it.

Most majors will.  Study abroad can be integrated into almost any major.

  • You will have finished your general distribution requirements by the end of your Junior year.
  • There is not some special on-campus opportunity which you value above studying abroad.

Brandon Nolan in a moment of reflection

Don’t go if:

       •   Your main objective is travel.

If you only want to travel, you do not need to be engaged in coursework while you do that.

       •   You simply need to escape.

Take a regular leave of absence if you need a break from your studies.

       •   You are a senior and do not have special permission from the Standards Committee.
