Alejandro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but grew up in the Canary Islands, Spain. He works in Early Modern Spanish and colonial literature and culture, focused on maritime experience. He is also interested in natural history, and scientific and religious texts of the 16th and 17th centuries.
