Social Psychologist to join the Department in August

Jordan D. Troisi, who completed his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from University of Buffalo, The State University of New York in 2012, has accepted a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Psychology starting in academic 2014-15.

Dr. Troisi received his Bachelor of Arts degree Summa cum Laude, with College Honors from Albion College in 2006.  Albion is a private, residential liberal arts college of about 1,400 students historically related to the United Methodist Church.  He majored in Psychology and in English, received the David K. & Patricia B. Hogberg Award for Research Excellence in Psychology, and was a member of the Joseph J. Irwin Society (English Department honor society).  He is a member of three national honor societiesThe Phi Beta Kappa Society, Psi Chi (psychology), and Sigma Tau Delta (English).

Dr. Troisi did his graduate work at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York … M.A. (2009) and Ph.D. (2012).  He was Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at Widener University 2011-2014, where in addition to teaching courses he served as mentor for numerous student research projects.

Dr. Troisi is a member of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, the Association for Psychological Science, and Division 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.  He has nine peer-reviewed publications and more than thirty-five presentations.  He attended the 2011 National Institute on the Teaching of Psychology;  at the 2012 Institute he served as a Participant Idea Exchange Leader.  He presented at the 2013 Society for the Teaching of Psychology Best Practices in Teaching Conference.

Dr. Troisi’s appointment expands the Department from six to seven tenure-track positions.  In addition to continuing his research collaboration with students, he will be expanding our offerings in social psychology.
