Brain Awareness Week returns, March 6-10

Sewanee Neuroscience Program hosts Brain Awareness Week
The Sewanee Neuroscience Program presents the second annual Brain Awareness Week (BAW) on campus, March 6-10, 2017. Every March, BAW unites the efforts of organizations worldwide to celebrate the brain for people of all ages. BAW activities this year include a lecture entitled "The Neural Dynamics of Mental Time Travel" with Dr. Sean Polyn, a faculty member in the Psychological Sciences program at Vanderbilt and graduate of Princeton University; a BAW movie night at the SUT featuring the Jim Carrey/Kate Winslet film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; a student research colloquium sponsored by the Sewanee Neurds (our own campus Neuroscience Club); and an unwind session in the Spencer Quad in which students and families can enjoy a bouncy house and try the BAW drink special from Stirlings, the Motor Cortex Mocha.
Check the calendar for event times and dates. If you're interested in submitting an abstract for the Sewanee Neurds Colloquium, please contact Dr. Brandy Tiernan ( or Dr. Kate Cammack (kmcammac@sewanee.edufor more information.
