Fabrizio Conti to Give Guest Lecture

Dr. Fabrizio Conti, of John Cabot University in Rome, will give a guest lecture in Susan Ridyard's History 368: Saints and Society course on April 12 at 9:30 AM, on the topic, "The Myths of Rome: From Pagan to Christian City and Beyond." Dr. Conti's teaching and research interests span the Late Antique, Medieval, and Renaissance Periods, with an interdisciplinary approach to cultural, social, and religious developments. In particular, Prof. Conti is interested in the forms of religious conversion, the relationship between official and unofficial cultural patterns, the history of ideas and mentalities. He will also be giving a paper entitled, “The Order of Sins in the (re-)Christianization of Late Medieval Italy: Dominican and Franciscan Pastoral Patterns” on the panel, Orders of Devotion, at 3:30 Friday, April 13 in Gailor 110 as part of the Sewanee Medieval Colloquium.
