AED Welcomes New Members

May 3, 2019

Last week, we welcomed seventeen new initiates to Alpha Epsilon Delta, a nationally recognized honor society and service organization. Selection is based on academic achievement in a wide range of science courses. Pre-health students are eligible once they have completed at least eight science courses and have maintained at least a 3.2 science GPA and a 3.2 overall GPA.

A celebratory dinner followed Friday’s initiation. Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Agnes Ortega, MD spoke to the new initiates. She shared several poignant stories that hit home with students, showing them how one can learn from death and the impact one physician can make not just the lives of her patients but on an entire community.

AED also welcomes next year’s leadership: President Mesgana Dagnachew, Vice-President Virginia Farley, Secretary Edith Amason, Treasurer Megan MacAulay, Historian Mena Kerrison, and Editor Gil Horner. We are looking forward to a great year!
