Reinhard Zachau’s scholarly work centers on East German and Nazi literature. Several of his books address German writers opposing the Nazis, on Stefan Heym (Munich 1983 and Cambridge 2003), on Hans Fallada (Bern 1990 and Berlin 2001), on Jakob Littner (New York 2000 and Berlin 2002), on Heinrich Böll (1994), and Topography and Literature (2009). Zachau’s pedagogical work resulted in several textbooks, German Culture through Film (2005), Berliner Spaziergänge (2009), and Cineplex (2014).
